Iringa Municipal Council is part of Iringa District (Iringa Urban and Rural). It is among of eight Councils in Iringa Region, other Councils are Njombe Town Council, Kilolo, Mufindi, Makete, Njombe, Ludewa and Iringa District Council. Iringa Municipality is bordered by Iringa Rural District. Nduli Ward in the North West, Kalenga Ward in the West and Mseke Ward in the South West. It also bordered by Kilolo District, Magulilwa Ward in the south East and Mazombe Ward in East. Iringa Municipal council aspires a better and sustainable living standards to its residents .Iringa Municipality counsel in collaboration with stake Holders,Intends to facilitate efficient and effective provision of sustainable Socio-Economic services to its Residents. Iringa Municipal Council has a total population of about 158,989 (based on the results of the 2012 Population and Housing Census). Of those residents, 75,565 are men and 83,424 are women. It has a total of 37,854 households where the average household size is 4.2.
